Not only does this tape drive provide 20GB of native storage (40GB with 2:1 compression), but the hot-plug components can be swapped in and out without powering down the system. You can also mix 1" hard drives and tape drives on the same SCSI bus with this configuration. It offers a 2MB buffer embedded in the tape drive, a typical transfer rate of 6GB per hour (8GB per hour maximum transfer rate), an average load/swap time of less than 15 seconds per cartridge and Reed Solomon ECC. It features a Mean Time Between failure (MTBF) rating of 250,000 hours at a 30% duty cycle and automate head cleaning.
